ACTIVITIES IN THE PELOPONNESE
How to fill your time when on holiday in Vivari...
The Peloponnese offers us a huge variety of activities and things to do to pass the time to those that are inclined to do more than just relax on the beach..
Vivari is the perfect place to practice snorkelling and investigate the world underwater, just a few minutes away at Candia beach (Kondyli) it is also possible to scuba dive. Generally the Argolida is an excellent destination or those interested in water sports and Tolo offers waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing with tuition if required. For the more adventurous, just outside Nafplion, there is a kite surfing club which is also very popular, plus, in Vivari itself there is the chance to take part in rock climbing at certain times of the year.
The archaeological sites and historical monuments are more often that not featured in the programme during holidays to Greece and we are proud to say that this area is one of the richest in the country, being home to such sites as Epidavros, Mycenae, Olympia & Ancient Tiryns.
For a more traditional approach to spending your time whilst in Vivari, why not take a morning out to learn how to cook some Greek dishes or have a short trip out to Nemea and taste some of the great wines of the Corinthian region. Visit the Natural History Museum in Ligourio on the way to Epidavros and combine this with a trip to the local olive press.
The Winter months in the Peloponnese are generally mild except for on high ground where skiing can be found, just an hour or so from Vivari... the list is endless... see below..
Rafting in the Peloponnese
Organised rafting and kayaking are located in the centre of the Peloponnese in the region of Arcadia, just over an hour from Vivari.
Hiking in the Peloponnese
Walking and hiking in any area of the Peloponnese, either independently or with a guide. Many things to see and routes. Breathtaking scenery.
Tour the local ouzo distillery in Nafplion, have a guided tour including their unique museum and partake of a tasting of their products.
Nemea, has more than 30 wineries many of which offer guided tours of the facilities and wine tastings. August & September Nemean Wine Roads.
Learn to cook some traditional Greek food with a traditional Greek housewife and eat what you make. Great way to spend some time.
There are rock climbing sites all over the Argolida county and many of them closeby. Have a look at this website for more info.
Hire a bicycle, bring your own, explore the area on your own or with a guided group and see some places not accessible by car. Great day out!
4 x 4 Jeep
4 x 4 Jeep Safaris are available in the Arcadia and Argolida regions for those that would like to do some cross country sightseeing.
On the beaches that are closeby of Kondyli, Tolo and Karathona there are organised watersports: windsurfing, sailing, waterskiing, scuba diving, canoes etc..
